Below is a standard list of checks and inspections we perform for the Service A.
Some Mercedes may require a couple of extra checks that may not be listed here.

Oil Service

  • Change oil and oil filter while engine is at operating temperature.
  • Check overall thickness of front and rear disc brake pads.
  • Examine brake disc surfaces.
  • Check parking brake actuation. Adjust if necessary.
  • Reset Service Indicator.

A Service (Oil Service plus the following)

Vehicle Passenger Compartment

  • Horn, headlamp flasher,, hazard flasher, turn signals.
  • Warning/indicator lamps, illumination and interior lighting.
  • Exterior lighting including headlamps.
  • Windshield wipers, windshield washer system.
  • Headlamp cleaning system.
  • Check seat belts for damage and proper function.
  • Reset Flexible Service System (FSS) counter in instrument cluster.
  • Replace dust filter.
  • If so equipped: Battery, wet cell: Check acid level, replenish.
  • Check battery condition.

Brakes

  • Check Thickness of brake pads and discs by removing and reinstalling right front wheel.
  • Check tires for damage and condition.
  • Measure and record tread depth.
  • Correct tire inflation pressure.

Engine Compartment

  • Oil and filter change.
  • Check and correct fluid levels.
  • Check engine cooling system/heater hose connections for leaks.
  • Check coolant level and antifreeze protection level; add coolant if necessary.
  • Check level of brake and clutch fluid in reservoir. Add fluid if required.
  • Check windshield washer fluid level and antifreeze protection.
  • Lubricate catch, safety catch and hinges on engine hood.

Trunk

  • Correct tire inflation pressure in spare tire.

Additional services required by model and year

  • Oxygen Sensor Replacement, required at intervals of 100,000 mi.
  • Spark Plug Replacement, required at intervals of 60,000 mi.
  • Replace brake fluid every 2 years.
  • Replace coolant every 4 years.
