Mini Service & Repair
CONDTION BASED SERVICE (CBS)
Mini Cooper uses an onboard computer system to determine when a service should be done on your vehicle.
The system takes into account driving habits and conditions ( hard / soft acceleration, temperatures, number of starts, etc ) to calculate when the optimum time is due for a service. The system will then light an “indicated service” due light on the dash to let the driver know it is time for service
Remaining Distance For Service
For a few seconds after the engine is started or when the key is in position 1 the dash will display the mileage that next service is due.
The next service due appears with the message “OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION”, together with the remaining distance before scheduled service. The computer bases its calculations of the remaining distance on the rate of fuel consumption in period immediately preceding your data request.A flashing message and a “-“ in front of the number means that the service interval has already been exceeded by the distance shown on the display.

The condition-based MINI Maintenance System includes, Engine Oil Service and Inspections 1 and 2
At Woodinville Sports Cars we have serviced hundreds MINI’s and we have seen what happens with extended oil service intervals ………………………………..
It is our recommendation to perform a oil service once a year or every 7500 miles with Mobil 1 full Synthetic motor oil and use only genuine MINI oil filters, this will be almost in the middle of the reminder system calculations.

If you must use a quick lube station remember that there are parts inside the oil filter housing that can fall out and cause low oil pressure and hurt your engine. Mini oil filters are a bit on the awkward side and inexperienced people can make a mess of them quickly.
